Long Time No See

Yeah it’s been a while since I added a real post of any substance other than jokes and mostly it’s because I’ve been really busy trying to stay afloat with full time freelance instead of the typical 9-5 animation job since I finished at Cartoon Network back in May. I’ve had a number of small jobs but the coolest was for a sweet shop in Greece. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to show the art for it until I get approval. Also I have done a fair amount of design work for Fox21 which is a subdivision of Fox catering to the college set.

Below is some work from that show…

Flavio!

Three years ago I created a seven minute animated film called “Flavio” for Nickelodeon/Frederator Films, about an over-emotional goat who works as a dishwasher in a pizzeria and longs to be a famous inventor like his hero Leonardo DaVinci.

I have not been able to post it on my site because it had to air on telivision first to be eligible for Emmys and Annies and all that stuff that only animators care about. Anyway, I can finally show it. Please check it out and as always I love to here your thoughts!
You can see a production blog about the making of Flavio at Frederator.com and learn more about Flavio here.

Providence Phoenix art

A while back I was contacted by the Providence Phoenix; a newspaper in Rhode Island and they asked if they could use some artwork of mine that I had previously posted on this blog. Of course I said yes and got paid for it to boot!

Sweet!

Below is the original art…

Mr. Flint

Well, I’m finally done… and I’m happy with the results. Below is Mr. Flint, Woodrow’s Supervisor. As always you can click on the image to see a larger pic.

In case you can’t figure it out he’s a piece of flint rock and that’s moss for his mustache and on his head. Anyway, since I am now done with the art, I can finally had the outline in which I will do on Monday!

Wish me luck!

When Nature Calls redesigns

Well, I’ve got the When Nature Calls outline pretty much sewn up now and I’m really happy with it. I’m planning on handing it in this week for sure.  It might just be the best thing I’ve written which of course might not mean much. Keep your fingers crossed for me? Below is hopefully the final design for "Boris" who is now "Woodrow." I like the stump design I came up with. Hopefully you do too. As always click the pic to see it full size.

Still messing with "Stephen" who’s name has changed to "Mr. Flint" which I’ll of course post when I’m done.

Hollyweird designs

Here’s some designs for a show my buddy Harry and I were working on…

This was my first attempt but we jointly decided that the black guy’s design was a bit too old.

Here’s a few more soul-searching facial designs… (click the design to see a bigger pic)

Personally I like #3, #6 and # 13 the best.
