Flavio!

Three years ago I created a seven minute animated film called “Flavio” for Nickelodeon/Frederator Films, about an over-emotional goat who works as a dishwasher in a pizzeria and longs to be a famous inventor like his hero Leonardo DaVinci.

I have not been able to post it on my site because it had to air on telivision first to be eligible for Emmys and Annies and all that stuff that only animators care about. Anyway, I can finally show it. Please check it out and as always I love to here your thoughts!
You can see a production blog about the making of Flavio at Frederator.com and learn more about Flavio here.

Michael Crichton 1942-2008

I am extremely saddened to hear about Michael Crichton’s passing away. He was my favorite author.

He wrote Jurassic Park, Timeline, Congo, Sphere, State of Fear, Westworld, The Great Train robbery, Eaters of the Dead, The Andromeda Strain, Coma, Airframe, Prey, Disclosure and his most recent book Next all of which I’ve read and all of which I found to be fantastic and all of which made me think.

He also created one of my favorite shows E.R. as welland until this season (the last) I have watched it faithfully every year.

Perhaps it’s end has something to do with Mr. Crichton’s illness.

Either way he will be sorely missed. I was looking forward to reading his works for a long time to come

You can read more about Michael Crichton on Wikipedia.

Cheeta the Chimp wants a Star!

If you remember the old Tarzan movies, the vine slinger had a side kick named Cheeta who is amazingly enough still alive ( and the oldest living primate in the world) and his handlers are trying to get a Star on the Walk of Fame for him!

Do him a favor and sign the petition to give him a star alongside other animal celebrities Rin Tin Tin, Lassie and even fictitious ones like Donald Duck and Bugs Bunny!

Xiaolin Showdown Season ONE Review

While I have to admit I am biased (because I worked on it), Xiaolin Showdown is a great show. The story gets better as the series goes on and it has susinct voices that match the characters personalities very well. The characters, Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko and Clay are all young martial artists going to a school to learn to be Xiaolin warriors with the bumps of growing up getting in the way constantly.

Personally my favorite character is Jack Spicer because he’s more or less an idiot and I can fully identify with that! I love his gadgets which are odd and for the most part useless. Wuya the Witch is a great character as well because she is ineffectual ude to her being a ghost causing an interwsting dynamic between her and Jack who have teamed up to destroy the world through the Shen gong Wu talismans that pop up across the earth.
There is many things about this show that make it first rate in my opinion. But don’t take my word for it go buy it! The characters, the plot, the humor, the different personalities, and the colorful animation style. This is a must have DVD!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

While I wasn’t a huge fan of the comic or the animated series, now THIS looks cool! Suddenly, I am really looking forward to this film. I hope the humans are animated as well or it will ruin it. Great animation and great moves! Such a well directed trailer. If the film is half as well directed it’s gonna be all eye-candy for this fella!
