Warner Bros Directors

All the classic Warners Bros. animators had different styles when they animated thier scenes. At Something New Something, Something Different they break it donw Director by Director.

Amazing stuff!

Here is an amazingly in-depth look (possibly the most detailed ever put together) at the differences!
Enjoy!

Andy Rooney

My father sent this to me today and I thought it was interesting. If you don’t feel free to comment!

DID YOU KNOW? As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S. Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world’s law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view … it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?

As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

DID YOU KNOW?

As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall,
right above where the Supreme Court judges sit,
a display of the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C.

DID YOU KNOW?

James Madison, the fourth president, known as “The Father of Our Constitution” made the following statement:

“We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

DID YOU KNOW?

Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said:
“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ”.

DID YOU KNOW?

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

DID YOU KNOW?

Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

DID YOU KNOW?

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law . an oligarchy .
the rule of few over many.

How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?
.

Lets put it around the world and let the world see and remember what this great country was built on.

Chamber, US House of Representatives

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to understand why there is such a mess about having the Ten Commandments on display or “In God We Trust” on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don’t we just tell the other 14% to Sit Down and SHUT UP!!!

Milowerx Music!

Harry and I have been creating stuff together for years and one of the things that we used to love to do was record songs that we had written.

Granted, we had no stars in our eyes and never expected our songs to amount to more than what they became; fun.

Usually Harry would do the music end and I would write and sing the lyrics. Soemtimes we would switch out and I would do the guitar or keyboards and he would sing. Man it was a lot of fun!
In the hopes that some of you out there might also be closet musicians, I have set up a little Milowerx Jukebox.

When I say little I guess I’m lying a bit because the file itself to listen to the songs tops at out at a whopping 6mb! Still if you have a fast connection (and lots of people do nowadays) then ut shouldn’t take you more than a minute to download the entire thing. Also, because it’s a Flash file, once you’ve downloaded it once it will be much quicker if you choose to go back there again to listen to more tunes!

Computer Troubles!?!?!?!?!?

Wow this is amazing… if it’s true! I had to post this seeing as how it is computer related!

YOU THINK YOU HAVE COMPUTER PROBLEMS?Think again….A woman went out to a local computer store to buy a computer that her family wanted her to get so she can e-mail them.

The sales person told her that they would deliver the computer, set it up and give her some pointers on using it. If she had any problems later all she had to do was call their “Technical Support” they would talk her through it over the phone or come back to her house to find the problem. The sales person asked her if she wanted to purchase 2 years in house warranty, the woman said yes.

A few months went by, she was getting good sending and receiving mail and checking the other web sites with only one call to tech support until one day — She called tech support.

SUPPORT: “hello, technical support how can I help you”

LADY: last night my computer started making a lot of hissing noise at me so I shut it down. This morning when I turned it on the computer started hissing and cracking, then started smoking and a bad smell, then nothing.

SUPPORT: I will have a technician come over first thing this morning, just leave the computer just like it is so they can find the problem and fix it or change it out with another computer. Give me your address; phone number and the technician will be there just as soon as they can. When the technician got there, the lady showed the technician where the computer was, said what happen to it, this is what the technician found wrong.

Take a look at the pictures… you won’t believe your eyes!!! And you thought you had computer problems

The Godman!

A few years ago, Harry and I worked on a film called The Godman. It was a film funded by The Book of Hope and produced by a studio called 3DBob. It was a Christian film and I have to say a rather ingenious idea.
As you may know sending bibles to Communist and Muslim that do not want to hear the Word of God such as China and North Korea can be a deadly endeavor.

Christian Missionaries are among the top religeous people killed throughout the world.

(Not that you’ll ever hear much about that… )

Anyway, the Book of Hope decided that what they should do instead was make a film about Jesus and bring it in as a DVD where it would be naturally pirated and unknowingly spread throughout the countries!
Rather intelligent if you ask me.

The film The Godman took 3 years to make and when I began working on it it had already been in the works for over a year. I came in originally as just a production coordinator to “wrangle” the animators and track the shots but I eventually “Forest Gumped” my way into being Head of Animation for the studio. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on the job. The budget and deadline was very tight but I loved animating all day. Eventually the project ended but the company Book of Hope wanted to keep tweaking it and after almost another year it is finally done!
Tonight, Harry and I are going down to The Raliegh Studios (which was Charlie Chaplin’s original studio) to see the premiere!
I’m really excited!
Hopefully I can post some images tomorrow!

Back from the Beach!

We’re back from beautiful San Felipe, Mexico! My wife and I had a great time south of the border.

Great to see so much new coolness here on the Milowerx site! Looks like Mike even has a new cartoon series planned! So what’s the scoop?

Aside from sipping pina coladas on the beach, I did manage to do a little bit of writing as well on my vacation. Added some needed elements to my latest book, Badhat, as well as fleshed out a new short story.

The water here was as warm as a hot tub!

Eventually, Mike and I will release a collection of our short story efforts, since Mike has also written-or is in various states of writing- a number of them.

As always, it’s great to be back in the states, but we enjoyed sunning ourselves on the beach in Mexico greatly. San Felipe is quiet this time of year, which suited us just fine. We went sailboating, and since it was 110 degrees in the shade, we spent a lot of time in the pool, or in the ocean. The Sea of Cortez was as warm as a hot tub too! This time of year, the tide goes out in the late afternoon, leaving a variety of aquatic life wading in tidal pools.

All in all, it was a great trip!

More stuff and things…

Been working hard lately. I have some freelance from Discovery AND Animal Planet at the same time. Also some stuff from another big studio who shall remain nameless. Lots of work to do.
A post from a new friend Gabe, (Check out his website) reminded me about a great opportunity for those who are interested in making their own cartoons.

Don’t know if you all have ever heard of a program called Oh Yeah Cartoons. It’s a series of cartoons that is hosted by Nickelodeon and made by Frederator Films.

You KNOW Frederator even if you don’t think you know them. They created Chalk Zone, Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom and I was a Teenage Robot .
It’s a great oportunity run by none other than the great Fred Seibert, who started Nick at Night, and took over Hanna Barbera, creating What-a-Cartoon program which launched such hits as Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Lab, the Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Larry and Steve ( which was the prototype to Family Guy) and quite a few others.
I was fortunate enough to make two films with Fred at HB, Bloo’s Gang, and the Ignoramooses…obviously neither went to series.
Still, it did help me to become a director and gave my friend Harry his first gig inside the animation industry.
I’ve pitched a few cartoons to them there but so far I have been unsuccessful in getting a short over there. Not easy to do but then it’s hard to get a development deal anywhere.

The great thing about Oh Yeah Cartoons ( as was with What-A-Cartoon) is that you don’t have to be some fancy-shmancy artist or animator, anyone off the street can make a cartoon with them- if it’s good enough.
That’s the key- if it’s good enough.
It’s not easy going up against the likes of Fairly Odd Parents and I Was A Teenage Robot.
Anyway, cruise over to their site, all you animator hopefuls and submit a cartoon idea to them! You never know, you just might be lucky enough to get one made!
I did!

Whoda Thunkit? WORLDWIDE!

Man, I gotta say having a website is an amazing experience.
Since last week over 8000 people have visited my site! Some of the hits of course are just spambots trolling the web but you can tell if it’s a real person looking at stuff by the length of time they stay and also by which page they are looking at.

The biggest hits here by far are for my 2D animation page and the Storyboards page both of which have various clips from Tazmania, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain and Xiaolin Showdown among others.
Lately, since I’ve updated the site and added some content I’ve noticed a marked increase in traffic. People from all over the globe see this site which is pretty cool considering that I am just small part of the animation business in Los Angeles. Just in the last few days we’ve received visits from The Netherlands, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, The Arab Emerites, Saudi Arabia, The East Coast, Midwest and West Coast of the US, the UK, Ireland, and Thailand!

Some of the traffic is people searching directly for me, but most is people looking for animation studios, or storyboards, or Flash tutorials or sometimes they’re actually looking for animationinsider.net (a great website for animation news) and they come to animationinsider.com which is one of my domain names.

It’s incredible really that so many people can view my small site. People I’ve never met before (and unfortunately probably never will), all with a genuine interest in animation like myself.
I LOVE THE WEB!

If you visit the blog, we’d LOVE to hear from you!
In other news Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there. I myself am the proud dad of two sweet girls, Melissa, who’s 8 and Megan who’s 6. I love them more than my own life and am so glad that God has brought me these two incredible gifts! If you have kids you know what I mean!

PLANETARY PIG in PACKAGE SMACKAGE

One of the first characters we tried to make a cartoon about and really try and sell was Planetary Pig; an optimistic mechanically-challenged hog who along with his pessimistic allergy-prone cat named Cosmo worked for The Terrestrial Temp Agency. In Package Smackage they were told to deliver a package to Planet B. Sounds easy enough except that the home they’re delivering to has a robotic dog that’s been to told to “keep trespassers out!”
You can see a full storyboard of Package Smackage here!
It’s a big file; a whopping 16mb, and you will need Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader to view it, but ya never know… it might be worth it!
