Fun with Plurals

This is genius, I don’t think Dr. Seuss did this but I am seriously thinking of animating it just for a character piece.

We’ll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,
Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,
Why shouldn’t the plural of pan be called pen?
If I speak of my foot and show you my feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn’t the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those,
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
But imagine the feminine: she, shis and shim!

Let’s face it – English is a crazy language.
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger;
Neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren’t invented in England.
We take English for granted, but if we explore its paradoxes, we find
That quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square,
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don’t fing, grocers don’t
Groce and hammers don’t ham? Doesn’t it seem crazy that you can make
Amends but not one amend. If you have a bunch of odds and ends
And get rid of all but one O f them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn’t preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English should be
Committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.

In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a
Recital? We ship by truck but send cargo by ship. We have noses that
Run and feet that smell. We park in a driveway and drive in a parkway.
And how can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,
While a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language
In whic h your house can burn up as it burns
Down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out,
And in which an alarm goes off by going on.

And, in closing, if Father is Pop, how come Mother’s not Mop?

Norman

Here’s a turn around for a character I wrote a 3d short film for. I had plans to turn it into a 3d cartoon but like many things in my life, I just have not found the time.

It’s amazing how much time and effort goes into 3d work and I find it amazing when I come across someone who has made a short by themselves. It’s so much work even before you get to start animating. You have to model the character, then texture it, then add fur/hair, then create the bones that will help the character move and then you have to attach those bones to the character. After that you have to build each set, texture it, light it and set up the cameras. then finally after all that work, you can start to animate the scenes, and then render which is it’s own unique set of difficulties. Oh yeah and once your done with all that? You still have to edit it together, add sound effects, music and credits as well.

Whew! A lot of work for a silly idea I came up with. And yet? I keep writing new ideas like the Village Idiot!

Bruck Chonson vs. The Exploding People

Another Bruck Chonson pic, this is one of my favorites. I like how the black dominates the image and honestly I am surprised I pulled it off as I’m not so good at contrasts etc.

Dino Soldier

I’ve really been trying to work on my portfolio for gaming development. It’s really hard for me as I am primarily a cartoony designer but I feel that nothing ventured, nothing gained so I keep at it. My tablet PC also makes it easier because I can continuously tweak it without hurting the original.

In this particular piece I wanted to design a character that might be from a game and I also wanted to render it out as much as possible so I could get some detail in there. I’m pretty happy with it but in hindsight I should have done a more dynamic pose.

Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa

Not sure if this is totally accurate, but if it is, he’s a worse than I thought. Is there no good politician?

If you ever had any doubt the dishonesty of the  Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa / Villa-laraza? He is a crooked and lying politician!

Consider the new DECEITFUL tax scheme he has concocted.

Look at your telephone bill (landline and cell), you will find that it includes a 10% city tax (the tax description may be intentionally convoluted.

This is a successor to the old ‘temporary’ Federal tax to pay for Spanish American war (around 1890).  A few years ago the Feds

discontinued the tax, but Los Angeles continued collecting it – illegally.  Recently, a court ruled that indeed this tax is illegal!

Now, facing the loss of funds from this tax larceny, the self-serving, dishonest Los Angeles Mayor, Villa-Laraza with the

support from the financially inept/irresponsible/corrupt City Council, they are planning a NEW deceitful telephone tax for the February

2008 primary elections.  On Wednesday, October 3, 2007, the Council voted to place it on the ballot.

Adding insult to injury, the Mayor used taxpayer’s money to hire a consulting/polling organization to find a misleading way to place this

tax on the ballot (February 2008) so that the public will approve it.  Indeed, it is the genius deception sponsored by the Mayor.  The ballot

will promote ‘REDUCING THE TELEPHONE TAX’ by 10%, from 10 percent to 9 percent – what a fraud.  The reality is that this is a NEW

tax to ‘replace’ the illegal 10% tax / theft!  Watch out for the dishonest Mayor and City Hall bandits, the 9% tax is a new tax!  We will not

save the 10% as the crooks/politicians claim; rather they hoodwink us to vote for a new 9% tax.  The polling organization did determine

that if the misleading promotion and theme for the new tax were, ‘LOWERING YOUR TAXES BY 10%’, over 60% of the people who were

polled would vote for this deceptive ‘tax reduction’.  Yes, this is a very cunning and first class fleecing attempt by the politicians.

As part of this deception, the Mayor and Chief Legislative Analyst came out with following ’sentimental’ statement relative to the loss of the

illegal telephone tax: “This would equate to 3,000 police officers”, “Clearly it will impact library hours….” (the Daily News October 4, 2007).

They never mention cuts in the bloated city bureaucracy, the horrendous cost protecting illegal aliens by the city’s Sanctuary policy, pandering

to the public employees unions, awarding nearly $1.5 million for a frivolous lawsuit by a fire fighter and much more.  Just recently, 22,000 city

employees received very substantial pay raises!  Not long ago, the Mayor denied the fact that our jails are full of illegal alien criminals.  A few

days ago ICE raids and arrests of 1,300 such criminals proved that he is indeed a liar.  Do you recall when the Mayor ‘promised to plant

1.5 million trees in Los Angeles?  How many taxpayer Dollars did he waste on this bogus promise?  Most of the trees are unaccounted for

and very few were planted.  When these dishonest politicians talk about budget problems, they only mention lack of fund for essential safety

and critical services.  They never mention cuts in their own expenditures, the swollen city bureaucracy, benefits for illegal aliens, Mayor’s travels

and outrageous wasteful spending.  Now the City is suing the Los Angeles residents because the taxpayers are trying to stop them from

stealing more of our money through the DWP.

True to its tradition of supporting any new tax, the Left Angeles Slime aka Los Angeles Times aka Los Angeles Pravda supported the deceptive

new tax fraud.  On October 3, 2007, this despicable newspaper had a headline: “Mayor Villaraigosa seeks to lower the telephone tax”, a clear

support for this new deceptive telephone tax.

It will be interesting if and how the biased TV media will report on this new 9% tax.  Has anyone seen any honest reporting on this issue on

Channels 2 or 4 or 5?  Not likely, if TV does mention the tax, no doubt they will be support the misleading ‘10% reduction concept’!

Please forward this to everyone who votes in Los Angeles.
